The main product bought by Mexico from Japan in 2023 was Motor Cars and other Vehicles Principally Designed Cars for Transport of Persons (US$1.95B). The main destinations of purchases made to Japan were Ciudad de México (US$5.52B), Guanajuato (US$3.19B), and Nuevo León (US$2.04B).

In the period January to March 2024, the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) from Japan to Mexico is US$1.43B. In the same period, the states that received the highest FDI from Japan were Baja California (US$651M), Guanajuato (US$625M), and San Luis Potosí (US$49.8M).

Regarding remittances, in the first quarter of 2024, Mexico received US$363k in remittances from Japan, while Japan received US$227k in remittances from Mexico.

Finally, in terms of immigration to Mexico, 3,121 inmigrants from Japan were registered in 2020, 27.1% women and 72.9% men. The states with the highest concentration of inmigrants from Japan were Aguascalientes (1,502 people), Ciudad de México (454 people), and San Luis Potosí (340 people).
